Advent 4214 Review

The Advent 4214 is the forth netbook to comes from PC World and shows their commitment to the netbook market. It really is nothing new to be honest and is almost average in everyway, however it is excellent value for money.

Basic specs are fairly standard with 1GB RAM, 160GB storage, Intel Atom Processor and running MIcrosoft XP. The Advent 4214 has a 10.1 inch screen (which is proving to be one of the more popular netbook screen sizes), and weighs in at a light 1.3 kg, so it is quite portable.
The screen has has a matted affect, which keeps reflective glare down to a minimum, while keeping the panel nice and bright. The keyboard has well-spaced low profile keys, and the mousepad is very decent in size.
The main negative aspect would be that the battery only lasts for around 2.5 hours, however for a netbook in this price range it is pretty standard.

Overall, the Advent 4214 is a solid, standard netbook that is quite good value for money, costing around £250. A point to note is that, for roughly the same price you can pick up the Advent 4213, which has the same spec but also includes 3G.
