Dell Inspiron Mini 12 Review
The Dell Inspiron Mini 12 Netbook is one of the newer netbooks from Dell, and of course with a larger 12 inch screen it makes it easy to type fast and view pictures and video. Available in black or white, Dell have decided to go the glossy route, which although it looks fantastic, picks up finger prints and dust like a magnet. Dell have also made the battery extend slightly at the rear, which does look a little strange, but also props the Mini 12 up while sat on a desk to make the ideal typing and viewing angle. The keyboard is a good size, at 92% normal size and the touchpad is responsive to use. Also, as is usual with Netbooks, there is a 1.3 mega pixel webcam directly above the screen.
Performance-wise, the Dell Mini 12 Inspiron is not the most powerful Netbook around, but it is able to accomplish multiple tasks at the same time. Dell has included Dell Dock desktop, which is basically a series of icons on the desktop (that you can change) to make it easier to navigate the system.
Internet access is fast with the built in Wifi, and connection is typically uninterupted.
Overall the Dell Inspiron Mini 12 is a good netbook. The screen is a larger 12 inches, but this does add some bulk (but almost no weight) to the netbook. They are coming out with a Linux and Windows XP version, which we would rather wait for.
