Toshiba NB100-11R Review
The Toshiba NB100-11R was Tohisba’s first foray into the Netbook market. (their latest version being the Toshiba NB100-12A). It is one of the smaller screen netbooks, at 8.9 inches, which most manufacturers seem to favour with thier first Netbook. Although the screen is small, it is one of the best screens around, with a sheen that makes pictures and images jump.
It is also not the best looking netbook we have come across. That is not to say it’s ugly, just a little on the dull and boring side. The keyboard is a little tight, but once you get used to it, typing fast was no problem. The touchpad is however, quite small.
The Toshiba NB100-11R comes with a fair amount of free preloaded software, which is great. This includes a music player, office suite and instant messenger amongst others. All programs are grouped in tabs that run down the left hand side of the display. Internet connect is also a breeze. The Toshiba NB100 11 shows you all the avaliable wi-fi options in your area and their strength, and you simply click on the one you want. Connection was typically in a few seconds.
There is plenty of room, with 80GB, but you can always add more by adding an external drive.
Overall the Toshiba NB100-11R is a good start for Toshiba. It is a simple netbook, but ticks all the right boxes, although the price is a little steep for what you are getting.
