Toshiba NB200 Review
We first spoke about the new (and only second) netbook from Toshiba about a month ago. We now have more details.
The Toshiba NB200 is a 10.1 inch netbook, up from their first netbook, the Toshiba NB100-11R, which was 8.9 inches. The built quality is simply superb on the NB200. They have gone with a chiclet style keyboard, which not only looks fantastic, but allows fast typing. The touchpad is also a decent size, although there is no multi-touch gesture, which is a little disappointing. The NB200 Netbook only weighs 1.19kg’s, but this is with the 3 cell battery. With the 6 cell battery, which would push battery life to almost 9 hours, the weight goes up to 1.33kg’s.
The screen is crystal clear with TruBrite® technology, and the machine is protected by a 3D accelerometer, to cushion blows inflicted if you drop it. Internet connection is good with wifi, and of course there is a bluetooth. One strange thing that Toshiba have done is to make the webcam only 0.3 mega pixels, where the standard with other netbooks has been 1.3 mega pixels.
Overall, the Toshiba NB200 is a beaut of a netbook. The build quality is really high and it looks fantastic. You do find yourself thinking that if only Toshiba would have put a little more effort into the technical features of the NB200, then it would be worth the £300+.
