Netbook versus Laptop

Netbooks really are selling like crazy at the moment and are going to be setting new records in 2009.
But one thing that most people are a little confused about is exactly what the difference is between Netbooks and Laptops.

Netbooks are basically trimmed down laptops, but there is more to it. A Netbook has been made with a specific purpose in mind, and that purpose is ultra-portability. The three functions of a Netbook are
1 - Surf the Net
2 - Check Email
3 - Basic Word Processing

As such storage and processing power are often much less than laptops, and screen size is typically smaller as well (7 - 10.2 inches). Linux is the preferred Operating system for netbooks, but you will find quite a few around that also offer Windows XP. Netbooks also are typically substantially cheaper than laptops as well.

Pros of Netbooks

More portable
Easy to use
Fast Loading time
Quick Internet connections
Built-in desktop shortcuts

Cons of Netbooks (compared to Laptops)
