Elonex ONEt Review

The Elonex ONEt was officially released in the UK in September ‘08. It  was developed to target the education market, and to be less than £100. However once fully developed the cost was closer to £180, unless you can prove you are in education, then the price decreases to £130, which is’nt too bad.
The Elonex ONEt measures just 210mm wide by 140mm deep and 27mm thick and weighs around 0.6kg’s with a 7 inch screen, so it is highly portable and compact. You can pick one up in scarlet, white, black, pink and green.

Memory is quite small with 1GB Flash memory, but there is support for MicroSD cards, to increase this up to 32GB. it uses Linux and comes preinstalled with Linux-based desktop which includes a Xip Suite (word-compatible word processor and excel-compatible spreadsheet), a media player, calculator and photo viewer.

The main issue that educators have had with it has been that there is no password protection on start-up, which might put personal information at risk.
